Integrated Child And Women Development(ICWDP)
The Child and women situation of health, nutrition, and education is poor in the rural area. So, MDO has been focusing to them and has been running the Integrated Child and Women Development Program (ICCDP). In the last 8 years period (2002-2010) there has been becoming gradually change in the overall survival, growth and development of young children through programme implementation like; nutritional assessment of young children below three years regularly and discussions relating to maternal and child health through Community Action Process (CAP). The CO members have been aware on the use and importance of iodized salt and as such the consumption of iodized salt at household level has been increased. Community people have been conscious on health, development and survival of children and as such there has been an increase in the use of vitamin A among U5 children gives high priority for the sanitation too.
The overall status of women has also been improved due to the awareness raising programmes with UNICEF support on women rights and empowerment. This year MDO mainly focused for the counseling and facilitator role to the Women Development Office in 6 VDCs of Kaski District.
Project Area
Bhadaure Tamagi, Chapakot, Dhampus, Mijure, Machhapuchchhre and Thumako Danda VDCs.
The overall objective of this project is to ensure the progressive realization of rights of children through strengthening of community action process, responsive service delivery and decentralized governance.
Objectives of the Programme
- Ensure the access of children and women especially the disadvantages groups and communities on the social and economic services,
- Increase the participation of women and children in the decentralized governance,
- Empower the communities and individuals as self sustaining entities by organizing them into federation process.
- Improve the overall situation of the children and women through social mobilization and community action process, responsive services delivery through federations and other services providers.
