Agreement Between MDO & CNGO/SBA-N

Two years agreement between MDO and the Canada Nepal Gender in Organization’s Sama Bikash Abhiyan Nepal (CNGO/SBA-N) has been signed to conduct various training programs on gender and development. There is a mutual understanding between the two organizations that MDO to be a gender resource organization by the end of program so that MDO would able to prepare gender resource persons in Kaski District. These resource persons would then able to conduct training on gender and development right from the community to district level.
The major objective of the program is to create a gender balanced society in every sector. The training program aims to involve MDO staffs, members and communities. Every events of training seeks to involve a balanced number of male and female participants and first and second phase training events on basic concept on gender and gender & development have already been conducted. The third phase training on Gender Dynamic is scheduled to be conducted from January 12 – 15, 2003 in Pokhara. 
Distribution of Booklet:
MDO covers three VDCs in Parbat District; i.e. Arthar, Chitre and Ramja Deurali where MDO has launched various program activities. Natural resource conservation program is one of the key activities. MDO jointly with the communities in Arthar VDC conducted plantation program above the village. Different species of trees have been planted in the area. The objective of the program is to reduce the pressure from the communities in the Panchase Forest.
Deputy chairperson, Mr. Dhan Bahadur Gurung, MDO Advisor, Dr. Cary Farley and the other staffs recently visited the VDC as well as the plantation site, which is significantly being a model plantation site in the VDC. MDO considers school students and teachers as partners in the process of development. MDO thus always seeks them to be involved in the development programs. MDO is conducting various activities in the schools. One of the programs is the distribution of booklets focusing on Environment and Development to create not only their level of awareness on environment but also be an ambassador in the community in this field. Teachers and students of all schools of the Arthar VDC were provided the booklets.
